Exclamation Verizon 8830 on prepaid

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Verizon 8830 and I can't afford a normal plan (let alone a data plan 0_0) So i tried activating it for prepaid. They said it was "too advanced of a phone". That was annoying, mainly because i just want to use it for texting and when need be,calling. I thought the calender was seperate.

ANYWAY, I vaugely remeber reading somewhere abotu someone getting a bberry on a verizon prepaid plan, but i think they activated a different phone first and switched over.

I don't remember if it was true or not, but I'd like to know if it IS possible.

is it?

I don't know of any prepaid or pay as you go plan in the US for a CDMA BB. You can get a prepaid SIM and use in a GSM BB for phone and SMS only, no data. But the 8830's GSM doesn't work in the US, so that won't work either.

With Verizon, you are forced to activate a BlackBerry data plan when you attempt to activate a BlackBerry device. As there is no prepaid BlackBerry data plan, attempting to activate a BlackBerry on a prepaid account will not go through because the Verizon computer knows what type of phone you're trying to activate.
