OK, so I have an 8830 World Edition that I stopped using a couple of months back. I felt like I didn't need a Blackberry, so I switched my number and everything to an old phone of mine. But, I miss my Blackberry, so I'm thinking of switching back. However, the curvy ball cursor thing in the middle doesn't really work when I try scrolling right or left. However, it works scrolling up and down. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I've read how nail polish remover on a cotton swab and rubbing it on the cursor can help?

Any suggestions? Please and thank you...

Try pressing down firmly on the ball and roll it to the left and right. Sometimes dust and debris get stuck under there. This will help dislodge it.

You can get a new one cheap at Cellular Accessories - Mobiado, BlackBerry, Panasonic, Apple, Tools, Dopod/O2, Nokia, SonyEricsson, NEC

Try taking the trackball out and see if you can blow out debris underneath. i just use my fingernail to pry off the silver ring from the bottom. With this piece off you can just tip the deivce upsidedown and the ball should fall out.

I had the same problem. Luckily it was under warranty so VZW replaced it without issue. If you're on BES, just be sure to get the new phone setup before turning in the old one.

Use a push pin or something thin to carefully pop open the silver ring and remove the track ball.

Those air dust cleaners work well.

Changing a trackball is pretty easy to do. Check out post number 2 for a source. I've changed mine out a couple times. My current trackball is getting pretty grungy, so it's about time again. I keep my bb in my pocket sometimes so it collects a lot of dust.
