Red face BB 7100t and BT voice

Please Login to Remove!

i have recently recieved a BB 7100t as part of my work setup (10 altogether)... im an IT professional and we have a 5 story division that requires alot of running from terminal to terminal.

originally, the BBs were supposed to be ordered with the 2-way radio. this would have allowed us to use the phone as a 2-way, but instead our supervisor ordered the 7100t... i understand it isnt possible to upgrade this model, but i would like my company to make the most of this device..

i know that the 7100 is bluetooth ready, so i was curious if that meant i could buy a BT router(actually 5) and use the routers to make voice calls.

my department has the unlimited calling plan so we can communicate, but a "2-way" feature would be much more ideal for the IT/helpdesk situation we work in.. the time required to make a standard "phone call" to members makes the 7100t pointless, as we could just walk back to the office.

so, to quit rambling.. can i buy a few of the routers and use the BT service to communicate vocally with my team? i want to use the 7100 as a 2way devie, and want to know if a bluetooth router will make this happen.

thanks, jboogie, COC Duval.

It is my understanding that the bluetooth is only useable for the headset feature. OS 4.1 is supposed to allow it to sync with a bluetooth pc but that's the extent of the bluetooth feature on the 7100t.

ok... now im chapped. (not at anyone but myself...)

so i was in the thread about the BB themes, amd i saw all the options..

i downloaded the zip file, and used the application manager to install the themes for this phone.. i thought the simple looking icons would function to my liking better than the huge colored icons of the 7100t..

so i installed them, and it was black and white after the screen came back on...

i tried to uninstall the theme after that, and now im screwed...

there is only the hourglass spinning..

so is thre anyway to restore the BB to default?

i cant even conect to the BB via USB to remove anything. it acts like its not there.. and the BB is just stuck in a state of flipping hourglass..

what did i screw up??

im sorry to be so new to the BB.. but im not a retard. i have a degree in computer engineering, and im pretty brite when it comes to application problems.. but i dont know what to do when you cant access the unit itself..

ok.. as im sitting here it has come back on.. but the screen is gibberish.

im lost...

can i download the OS and reinstall to restore the wroking environment??

Wirelessly posted (7100t: BlackBerry7100/4.0.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)

Did you install 4.1 themes? Go ahead and install the 4.0 themes then delete the 4.1 themes. The 4.1 themes are incompatible.

Also I haven't had good luck checking just the themes I want installed. It works best to check them all. Some require others to be installed. They say you can check the ones you want but that have me headaches. I have all the 4.0 themes on my 7100t and they all work fine with the exception of the calculator issues.

i only tried to install the 4.0 themes..

im getting familiar with this thing... i thought i had it locked in a loop, but i just failed to realise that the processor in these things rivals that of a microwave (with defrost). i dont what to know what the clock speed is on it..

so i went to the t-mobile site (my provider) and downloaded the newest OS revision for the phone, along with the desktop software.. i installed the DTM software, then i installed the new 4.0.1 OS.

that was a little better... the screen lost the gibberish and was refreshing correctly 9i think) but the only problem i have now is the icons are all wireframe modles.. not a colorful opaque icon like the default.

i have uninstalled the entire theme package, with no avail.

the font is fine, the hourglass is animated correctly, but the buttons are seethrough and it makes it quite hard to navigate..

i thought that installing the latest software (and allowing it to delete anything before the install without backup.) would restore the phone to the default settings, but it didnt.

im sorry for being such a newbee on this.. and i am very grateful for the advice givin thus far.

any help is greatly appreciated.

J

I'm not sure...I would post your issues on the Themes thread and I'm sure you'll get a response from jibi or someone who really knows what they're doing...they're pretty good. He created the alx files.

thanks... ill do that.

ive scoured the forums here, and the only thing i can find that is remotely similar to my problem is the icons being totoally gone..

another fellow had the black and white screen like i did also, but i (semi) corrected that problem.

thanks again!

BEEP BEEP So what's the real advantage of the 2-way. BEEP

BEEP You are still ultimately having to scroll thru menus and select people that you want to talk to BEEP

BEEP The only difference is you have that annoying roger beep amongst the conversation... BEEP

As long as you have free mobile to mobile, you have nothing to worry about

after using it for a while i suppose your right..

i just think the 2way is faster than making a phone call, but for the most part i am happy with the service.

and for the record, everything is fine after reinstalling the updated OS and updated DTM
