I purchased a BB 8700G through eBay. Which is my first BB or any smart phone, at that. After owning it for 1 day, I have come to realize that I have a GERMAN
version of the 8700G.
My 8700G isn't a "QWERTY" but instead a "QWERTZ" key pad. In other words, a German keyboard swaps the "Y" key and "Z" key. (Image provided via Wikipedia).
Also, my currency key is not the American $ sign but an Euro currency symbol, which you will find as a blue symbol on the "E" key in the image provided.
Horrifying experience I am having at the moment.
My question for BBF is if my German formatted BB 8700G is going to be compatible with my US T-Mobile Sim Card? I am assuming it is not, but the phone was advertised as "Unlocked" for Cingular and T-Mobile, if that makes any difference.
In a recent post, I explained that I did not have a BB Internet & Email plan, and I contacted TMobile yesterday (April 16th) to add the plan. I was told that it would take a maximum of 48 hours to be activated.
Also, until the service is active, the browser icon would not appear. The browser icon not appearing was also confirmed in the thread, here on BBF. If that information is accurate, there maybe the small possibility that the service will not be available to me until tomorrow (April 18th) at 2PM PST.
I have become concerned because I have been told by some that a German SIM Card will always read "Data connection refused" in a American Blackberry. I am assuming this works vice-versa.
