Is there anyway to temporarily shut off email reception without having to go into email set-up andlogin and remove email address, and yada,yada, yada?

You can go to the "Turn Wireless Off" mode, which would disable recieving E-Mail; though that also disables pretty much everything which I'm sure you were not looking for.

As far as only disabling E-Mail; In theory (though I haven't tried this) you would be to enable your firewall and deny access for email. This probibly involves the same amount of clicks and stuff as deleting the email address though.
