There have been various posts, some lost in the great disaster.

Here's the problem.

I simply want to use Verichat, and cannot get it to work. I don't have a BES or a third party MDS.

I've tried all that Mark suggested in his sticky by way of configuring TCP.

It doesn't work.

Cingular advises that adding account configurations that Mark suggests will result in LOTS of extra charges in addition to my "unlimited" data plan.

I am at my wits end here.

Verichat customer service advises that its product results in messages NOT being considered as text messages. I think they mentioned that Verichat goes through WAP.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

A couple of things to try:
1. Be sure you reboot after you enter the TCP settings. Verify they are still there after you reboot, as mine often would disappear.
2. Make sure you are using the wap.cingular information from:

Does anyone know if that information is case senstive?

Yes, from what I have read it IS case sensitive.

If you have any other ideas, I'd listen to most anything!

Yes, it works good as long as you have good signal strength. The timeout appears to be pretty short. It gives up quick!

Are you using 3.8? I have 4.0 now and have not tried it with 4.0 yet.

4.0. What settings did you need re APN? Did you have to call Cingular and get added what that post suggests?

No, I did not have to add anything to my bill with Cingular. I will try it with 4.0 now.

Yes, it works on my 7290 w/ 4.0 installed. After I installed it, my TCP settings were wiped out. Had to reset them and then reboot the BB again.

Here is the settings I am putting in the TCP option:

APN: wap.cingular
Username for APN:
Password for APN: CINGULAR1

We do have a BES but it is not 4.0 at this point, so I don't think the BES impacts VeriChat, but I could be wrong. We do not have MDS running either.

Hope you get it working as it is pretty slick. If you leave VeriChat running it hits your battery pretty hard.
