No leather holster yet. I am surprised how cheap a backup battery is at 29.99.

With the exception of the battery none of these items is truly 8700c specific. More importantly, no holster options. I wonder if they will offer a leather holster soon?

No the difference in width and thickness as well as height would be a problem. I saw a prototype case at the SF event.

watch out guys, the 8700 will fit good in a 7290 leaather holster, but you will lose the magnetic off function unless you have a 8700 holster. i tried it everyway and it wont work with a 7290 holster.

Can someone point me to any place that tells you what accessories come with the 8700? Also, anyone know if the 7290 desk stand will accomdate the 8700?

barjohn,

There should be a soft case (not leather) for the 8700. One of my RIM friends with an 8700 has it and it's definately very cool in comparison with the hard shell case that came with the 7290's...

I'll ask him if a leather one is in the works...

I am probably in the minority, but after having the stock plastic holder put all kinds of scratches on my 7230, and eventually switching to a 7100, I prefer the holster from the 7100. It's easy to remove the device and I get no scratches on it.

Hopefully they will offer something similar for the 8700.

Jeff

Default Still no Holster

Yep, I just upgraded to an 8700c and was trying to use my old holster. After umpteen bad calls placed simply by returning it to the holster, I had to give it up.

Still there's no new holster that replaces the "real" ones. I can't figure that out. And the plastic RIM one is a piece of crap - I've dumped the phone at least 3 dozen times, and have been lucky that I got it back AND that it didn't break.

I'm looking for a true hoster WITHOUT the damn metal pivot, if anyone knows where to find one.

I use the RIM leather holster for my 8700C. Works really well, gives good protection, and sleeper magnet. The swivil clip is plastic not metal. For me it works well. Check it out here BlackBerry Accessories Store - Product Detail
