Default 7130e and EVDO

Please Login to Remove!

I have a new 7130 on order. Expecting it Friday. I currently use a 7250. Is there anything I need to do to take advantage of EVDO? I am currently in the unlimited data plan.

Thanks for your help!

All I did was activate the new phone. The rep said there was nothing special to plug in. She said just changing from the 7250 to the 7130 took care of evetthing. I assume when she put the 7130 in the system it coded it properly. The EVDO worked right away.

Are you saying the EVDO tethering was included? I understand its an extra $15.00 on top of the $44.95 unlimited BB plan ($59.95). Even if the 7130 shows 1XEV that doesn't meanyou can tether your PC.

No. I did not ask about that since I will not use that feature. I have a card in my laptop that I use.

Same here. I just called to switch the ESN to the new 7130e and the evdo popped up on the 7130e and works great. I'm not interested in tethering so I can not comment on that.

Mike, how you like the 7130e so far. Its been working great and I like it. But every now and then I see some lag in the menus.

I like it. I had some issues for the first day after I received it on Tuesday. I think they were from the techs (for the BES) just giving me a new activation code to do the Enterprise Actviation opposed to deleting my profile and then readding it. After doing a few wipes and having them delete my profile and redoing the EA, all the issues stopped.

So now with a working device, I like it. Overall, I like the form factor better than the 7250. I like the screen better too. The only thing I liked the 7250 better is the full keyboard. I have to get use to the suretype and some other features associated with it like changing from suretype to multitap. Onething I do like about suretype is it is like a built in spell checker.

The 7150 fits better in the hand. The sound quality seems better than the 7250 and there is not as much of a lag when switching over to a bluetooth headset.

I know trhere are complaints about web browsing and it may not be great, but it is better than the 7250 (to me).

One other thing I miss and maybe it is there, but cannot find it is when in the phone view, I was able to start typeing a name and it will pull it up from the phone book. With the 7130, that does not work. You need to go to the phonebook first. If I am in the phone view and try to type the name, you get either numbers or letters (if you press alt first). The manual says that if you type in the letters, it acutal sends the numbers associated with the letters on a regular phone. This helps when you need to do that (like dial the persons last name in a VM system). However, I do miss finding the name in the phone book right from the phone view. Maybe it is there, I just cannot find it.

All in all, I am please with it.
