Default Do NOT trust FedEx tracking

Please Login to Remove!

I ordered my 8700c yesterday and requested overnight delivery. I received a FedEx tracking number and was told to expect delivery by 3:00 PM today. Since this little baby requires a signature I couldn't leave the house so I waited and waited as if being held hostage in my own house by FedEx. 3:00 PM came and went. When I used the FedEx tracking system it indicated that my 8700 had arrived at their facility at Dulles Airport early this morning from Memphis and it was still there! I called FedEx and they indicated that they would "get right on it." I never heard back from them (shocking) so I took it upon myself to drive to their facility at Dulles to find out what the problem was as I live about 5 minutes away from the airport. When I got there the clerk did a little investigating and told me that the package never left Memphis! I asked how this was possible as their own tracking system indicated that it was at Dulles. The clerk told me that when FedEx tracks packages they don't actually scan the individual boxes themselves but only a manifest of what is supposed to be on the plane or truck! So my 8700 will be spending the next couple of days in Memphis ( I guess) and I was told "sorry" and hopefully I get it Friday. Soooo I'm out a full day and the $15.00 overnight charge. Hope all of you who received yours are enjoying them, I'm jealous!

Happy Thanksgiving

These things only happen when you really want something bad and before something like a holiday in mid-week. Bummer!

At the very least I would get FedEx to credit me the overnight delivery fee, otherwise Id huff and Id puss till they did. If nothing else it would give me a little satisfaction, much like the new TV commercial, sticking it to the old man, eh.

but the simple premise of this message is wrong. I trust fedex tracking and will continue to do so.

Your only pissed off that you didn't get your 8700 fast enough. =) What is that one day delay going to do to impact your life?

so, trust fedex, but beware if you have a new 8700 coming and you can't wait for it -- murphys law will bite you in the ass =)

Now that is just ridiculous. He paid for overnight shipping, waited all day, checked up on the tracking, (prolly more times than he would like to mention, can't blame you though), never got what he PAID for and you say his arguement is wrong ?

Regardless if he has to wait another day, in which case this will make 2 days of waiting since tomorrow is a holiday and won't expect to have it until Friday, HE PAID FOR OVERNIGHT DELIVERY. There is nothing wrong with his arguement about not trusting FedEx due to his experience.

As a side note, I've never had an issue with FedEx and am 10x happier with their service than UPS.

But the fact it's a holiday is not the fault of fedex. it's a one day delay. So many times when i need replacement blackberries, or treo's, and my CEO is one of the recipients, i'm nipping at the bud to get something immediately and care really badly about a one day delay..

but it's just a one day delay.. murphys law.. i've been there, it's rare, but it happens. =)

Again, it's not like this once incident speaks volumes about Fedex and the 8700c or blackberries are responsible for the breakdown of the Fedex network, it's just one package..

i'm sure the Fedex network is just fine. So why is my counter argument so bad?

If it was a replacement 957 for the guy at work that just needs one, i don't think i'd even have cared, but with a HOT product like the 8700 it got noticed enough to be posted here..

a refund is definately in order, but it depends who really is at fault too. Some large shippers enter their shipments in bulk and mistakes do happen?

I dont agree it is ridiculous, as I stated above he has a right to be pissed and ask for a refund but that is it. I think this says it all, plain and simple:

There simply is too much of an euphoria over just a new device. For pete's sake we lived without it for this long, your life will not change if you dont get it right away. Are you really in that dyre need for this device or simply trying to impress yourself and others along with it? Don't get me wrong I love my BB and now wonder how I made do without before but we must chill after all it is only a device.

I just met a neighbor that's a fellow BBian. Never knew. I noticed he kept coming out to the street and looking both ways. I was out in the yard so I asked what was up. Guess what, he was tracking his 8700. Now the sad part is Fedex said it was on the truck all day then they said it was delivered. He just left for the facility cuz he doesn't have it. Hopefully he will join up if he ever catches up with the Fedex guy.

Your counter arguement is not "so bad". Matter of fact it is understandable as these things do happen. But, and yes I shall say it, the principle of the situation is the issue. He paid for a service and did not receive it. Had he wanted to wait an extra day or 2 he would not have paid additionally for Overnight Shipping. Obviously the person who he paid should be the one to refund. I'm sure he paid for the overnight shipping through Cingular and they should be the ones to refund him, or at least have his money refunded from the person(s) responsible for delaying his order.

We live in a world where convenience has an associated cost. You want it faster, you pay more, you want it bigger, you pay more. You pay, you should get. He didn't get what he paid for.

Seeing as he probably won't respond to our replies, we can leave this with "difference of opinion" =).
