The 8700 is sweet. I tried the phone out and it works just fine. Web, fast.
I love this device.

Default Opinion on Keyboard

Motorsport96:

What's your opinion on the keyboard usability. Are the keys too cramped.

Thanks.

Keys are definitely tighter than 7290, will require much more careful typing. OTOH phone is much better and device is more ergonomic.

Exactly. After ten days, it gets a bit easier each day.
The best for typing was the 950...but those days are gone.
So use Auto-Text a lot, give it time and the cramped keys (the only real negative I've found) will become less and less of an issue.

A little, but the keyboard still feels much better to me than the TREO - and it's much easier for me than the 7100 series. I can still type very fast on the 8700.

this is the first bb i have ever owned. i have had the treo 650. the 8700 keyboard is much easier to type with. at first it would slip out of hand a little but i will get used to it. i love this device. i dont think i will ever use anything else. i will say that the phone is fine. i dont expect it to be the best but everything else from the 8700 makes up for it. still a huge upgrade frm the 650

Glad you love it!

There are a bunch of things you want to learn about it -- Check the BerryFAQ.com BlackBerry FAQ thread at the link below.

Neat little things like holding the ALT key (bottom-right key) and the side button, to multitask between applications (like Windows Alt+Tab). Yes, as you can see the BlackBerry mutltiasks much better than the TREO does.

And other things like downloading instant messaging software if you want always-on MSN/AIM/ICQ/Yahoo chat, or things like one-click weather forecasts and 411 directory lookup (even faster than even the already-fast BlackBerry web browser). And yes, SCROLLABLE GOOGLE MAPS on a BlackBerry from websites such as www.freek.ca

Give my kind regards to RIM for creating the 8700. Nice as can be and I am getting used to the 8700 keyboard.
