Thumbs up BMW Bluetooth

I am blown away. The addresses just appear magically in the address book after the phone pairs. It works like a champ on my 2006 325i. Finally, I have my full address book and it is quick and easy. It doesn't actually appear to send the address book to the car but rather lets the car link into the address book and present it on the display. It will display the same name multiple times depending on the entries you have such as home or work or mobile. It adds the appropriate description to the name. It also works with the voice command feature though it is no where near as good as MS Voice Command or Fonix on either understanding the name or repeating the name back to you.

Another little side note, I am using it with my 7290 SIM and it works just fine for both phone calls and email. So far I am very impressed with the unit. Of course I still have serious testing ahead. The speakerphone, on my first test of it, was equally amazing. Very loud and clear. What an improvement over the 7100. Voice is only slightly louder on the earpiece than the 7290 but the signal is so much better. The browser is also much much faster. Not EV-DO speeds but adequate for what most of us do on a handheld with a browser.

John-- Bimmer fans everywhere will like hearing about this.

I was blown away with how simple the RAZR paired with a 2006 3-series and had concerns about the 8700c. The Bluetooth module in the Bimmer is from Motorola. Sounds like the right combination again!

By the way, the desktop holder for the 7290 sort of works. It is a little large and the fit is lose but it works to charge the unit. A desktop holder that actually fits would be nice.

Agreed. I placed it in mine but it fell out a few times when barely brushed. Hope they make one. Love the holster and the click sound when inserted. A little tip...when removing from the holster be sure to press in at the bottom of the device. The 72XX series I use to press in at the top part to remove.

Hope it works as well with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I've had some issues with my 7100g that I have lived with and look forward to trying the 8700c.
