Default Capturing Screenshots From 8700??

Please Login to Remove!

Can someone with a 8700 see if JavaLoader is able to capture screenshots from their device? So far, JavaLoader is only able to capture screenshots from the 7100 series.

If you don't have JavaLoader, you can get it from one of my other posts titled "JL_Cmder". JL_Cmder is just a batch file to make using some of the main features of JavaLoader a bit easier. All required files are included in the zip file.

Thanks! I suspect that it will work just like on the 7100 series, but I don't have a 8700 to verify.

JavaLoader is a tool provided by RIM that can access a BlackBerry (BB OS 4.02 or higher) via the command-line. JL_Cmder is a little batch file I wrote to simplify the use of JavaLoader. You can download it from the thread linked in my signature. It is fairly simple to use, not much to explain. You can use it to capture screenshots from a BlackBerry in BMP format.

You other option is to download BlackBerry simulators from the BlackBerry Developers webpage. Screenshots can be taken from the simulators via the simulator interface. Each method of gathering screenshots has its advantages, and I frequently use both for this purpose.

the simulators that are provided in developers area a really great but Im searching for a German version for the 8700g and thats not available. Is there a possibility to add a German language pack and to change the background image by my own (e.g. on the simulator 8700c)?

I cant find the "Javaloader" or is it the "JDE..."?
If yes, I tried the JDE 4.1 but its not the same OS as my 8700!?

Thanks for your support!

Download JL_Cmder (49 KB) from the link in my signature. Included is JavaLoader. Unless you really want to download the JDE (86+ MB) and Sun JDK (58+ MB).

And FYI, you dont have to download the JDE to get the simulators. There are stand alone simulators. You can download and install multiple versions.

Hi,
okay, I got your tool and installed it. It is placed on c:programs\JL_Cmder
If I run now JL_Cmder.cmd your tool is starting and I choose "4" for screenshots. After inserting a name(e.g. "XXX") I click "Enter" and get an error-message of windows explorer that "file xxx.bmp is not available".
Im using Windows XP Pro and my 8700g is connected via USB.
Can you help?

Default No .bmp file

the program relies on a default file association for a bmp file. Mine is MS picture viewer.

Was your BlackBerry properly detected by your workstation? I am guessing you need the drivers installed. You can get them by installing the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Make sure the BlackBerry is not connected when you install. The other option is to have the BlackBerry connected and go to Windos Update. I have never tried it, but heard that it works.

I have modified a version to call MSpaint instead of the default viewer. I was thinking of posting that updated version, but havent yet.

Default I would leave it, but you might put a note about it.

Some sophisticated users like myself might be loading photoshop or a more sophisticated program.

Works fine for me. In fact it's the only method I use:

C:\Program Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry JDE 4.1.0\bin

JavaLoader.exe -u screenshot C:\cap.jpg

Cheers, Sabesh.
