Question No Compose MMS Option on 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

I am missing the Compose MMS option on my new 8700c. There is no MMS service book installed on the device so I am sure that this has something to do with the problem. The MMS option existed on the 7100 series that I upgraded from.

I registered my phone via the host routing table, verified that the MMS pay per use feature is enabled on my account, and tried sending the phone an MMS message from another and none of these attempts remedied the problem.

Am I alone here or is anyone else missing this feature as well?

I do not have that option either. Default to Disable MMS on a BES is set to False.

Looks as if Cingular has not enabled MMS for the 8700C. There is no service book so that option will not show up.

This is ony for the 8700C. The 8700R is fine and is enabled.

Weird, I had the MMS option on my 8700c since weeks ago and all of a sudden when I rebooted the device the MMS option was gone, and no further service book comes in...it is very slick how you can play midi files save them, and also attach pictures and finally send files from the device itself...oh well

BG,

I have a meeting with some very high level folks @ RIM and Cingular tomorrow. This topic was one on the agenda, as well as browser homepage locks and SMS delivery notifications.

All I can say is that both companies are very aware of this forum. I suggest starting a new thread and sticky it with 8700C problems.

Another issue on the table is dust in the screen.

Will update as necessary,

PLEASE make it clear that they need to roll out the newer version of the BIS web client. I read post after post about how T-Mo has the newer version that allows users to assign different "reply to" addresses for each email account. And on the BB that allows them to see a From section in an email header and choose to change the account they want to use. Very important - they surely don't want to be BEHIND T-Mo in this area, do they?

BG,
You are right. I was on the phone dealing with an unrelated tech issue and had to go into the Service Book area and noticed the MMS books and I think a screen option somewhere. Now, it is gone. MMS messages now come in as a message from cingular giving me a username and password to view the MMS online.

Cingular has removed this feature. They stopped sending out MMS service books and if/when you upgrade your handheld it will remove the feature aswell so even if you had the MMS service books the software wouldn't support it.

Currently, MMS is not enabled by Cingular on the 8700C. They updated the RIM website to reflect this in the compare device area. As for the feature, it will be supported, but is currently in the works and will be offered sometime in the future.
