Default 8700 Cingular vs 7130e Verizon

Please Login to Remove!

New to BB but very sold on one. I will be buying a new one on December 1st when my contract is up with Sprint. I'm looking for speed on e-mail and web browsing would 8700 cingular edge be faster than 7130e Verizon Edvo or would 7130 be faster?
Thanks

The 7130e would be faster data wise, however I think the processor in the 8700c would be faster. So it is really hard to say, I would say look at who has better coverage in your area, and the 7130e works much better as a phone, just keep SureType in mind. If you do any world travel I would look at the 8700c then.

We have about ~150 BB users. I tell folks 1 thing when choosing a device: travelling outside the US? Then don't go Verizon.

After that, it's really more about the network than anything else. I'm in the NYC area, and both networks are fairly equal .. until you start getting farther away from NYC, heh.

I know I couldn't handle the SureType keyboard, and I was looking for a BB that had a phone function. I get about 50-80 emails a day and 5-10 calls a week, so the 7290 and as of Weds the 8700 was my choice.

Why would anyone want to leave NYC?

I wouldn't worry too much about the speed; they will both be fast! The real question is do you need a phone with data capability(7130) or a data device with phone capability(8700)

Default My 2 cents

Never got used to suretype. Are v see. Kim v Jim. But if I were not going t travel outside the US and I needed the device to be my modem, I would consider the 7130e, otherwise I am all 8700.
