an html internet browser just popped up on mine as well right now....I've had mine since friday and have been calling cingular several times a day...it just came up!
I think this forum had EVERYTHING to do with getting this resolved. Now my 8700 is nearly perfect!
In today's world where companies release products that their tech support departments cannot support adequately, these forums become your best resource. We're here because we want to be. Technology, for us, is at least a hobby if not a passion. Tech Support people see it as their job, and they get paid whether they give me a solution to my problem or tell me to powercycle my device and cross my fingers.
People who troll around these forums like to be helpful and are thrilled to see a problem solved. That'll get it done every time.

These forums definitely help identify that a problem is occurring, particularly if it is occurring for more than one person. Sometimes a problem only gets seen once something is being used by live people...
well everyone - I received a call back from Cingular today and they now know about this and it is fixed! Resend your service book and the internet browser should appear. I have it now. If you still are not getting it, call the data group at 866 490 2666.
I guess persistence pays off. I have to hand it to Cingular for taking my calls seriously and making it happen.
I thought I was seeing things but it just showed up on my unit as well.

Cingular WAP
Cingular HTML
Blackberry Browser - if you are on a corporate BES. Note this is likely to have security settings. At my firm, I can't respond to my Yahoo mail on this. I had to use the WAP on my 7100.
I have a 7290 and this browser also appeared today. I noticed it also added an IPPP service book for it, so I'm wondering now if us Cingular users can use TCP apps without the WAP gateway set. Can anyone test this? I'm on a BES & cannot test this, unfortunately.
Can anyone tell me the difference between the three. Is there something better over one to another. ANd what settings should the browser have to get the best web experience.
