Default We are thinking of getting the 7250 from Nextel...

We got a good deal with them, they are giving us the BES server and licenses in addition to the devices.

However, we are an IT department -- our goal is to use it to manage some stuff remotely in addition to getting emails from servers and such. I have read you can manage active directory users and such stuff like that -- is this possible, and if so, how? Additionally, do we need to authenticate thru our firewall separately for this, or will those functions ride in on the same connection to the BES server? We have a checkpoint firewall but obviuosly would open the necessary stuff for BES to function properly.

I appreciate your quick responses, trying to make a decision by tomorrow! (yipes!)

Thanks!

Welcome to BBForums!

Nextel sells the 7520. The 7250 is a CDMA device, from Sprint or Verizon. The 7520 is the iDen device (or the 7100i).

You do need to open Port 3101 on the firewall for BES to work, but that is all in the documentation.

Check out the Idokorro software - they make excellent remote administration tools.

Good luck.

Thank you, that software looks like it's 100% what we are looking for
