Default Yahoo IM on 8700

Please Login to Remove!

Searching this site yields the built in client for the new models and many of the products seem to support MSN or AOL. Does anyone have Yahoo IM working?

8700 definately does not support Yahoo Im .. I was on the phone with Cingular for one hr and they tried everything and no luck. I feel I need this app and I will not go without it so I have decided to stay on my 7290 and return the 8700. I hate to give the phone back but since 4.1 version is so new and lots of apps are not working. So i guess I will wait on it.

I have tried downloading Yahoo, but didnt work on my Cingular 8700C. Looks like it is only supported for Nextel and Rogers users for now.

Default I should have been more clear

I know the RIM app won't work on Cingular. I was looking for alternatives. I see IM+ works. It's $45.

Try a third party application.

IM+/YakOn/VeriChat/etc were not working on non-BES 8700c's until the BlackBerry Web Browser icon suddenly appeared, then all of the third party messengers now work fine.

If you haven't tested third party chat software in the last two days, please try again.

Default Mark

Yak-on is not for Yahoo best I can tell. I don't want a subscription so Verichat seems out. That leaves IM+ or are there others that I missed?

Webmessenger works great! Give that a try, it stores messages when you lose service and automatically redelivers them. Great product. Supports AIM/Yahoo IM/MSN/ICQ

Default Boy Genius thanks

I note it's another subscription service too though. What's the advantage of that or is it just a pricing mechanism.

IM+ is a one-time license/purchase fee and thats it...they've also added google talk to the mix.

Use marks guide to configure the TCP option in options, it should correct the issue... [email address], CINGULAR1, and wap.cingular worked for a client of mine...WebMessenger uses their own servers, hence the fee. It's well worth it in my opinion. Cingular is said to have a RIM/AIM client early '06

The only AIM client that I have been able to get to work successfully on both my 7290 and 8700 has been IM+. Yak-On, Ramble, Verichat, and webmessenger have all given me the infamous "tunnel" error. I tried a variety of TCP settings using all of the suggesstions on these boards (I can't tell you how many combinations I played around with), but none worked. I eventually gave up and figured I would wait on AIM on my berry.

Boy Genius... is cingular really supposed to have an AIM client out in early '06? As I said before, I've gotten IM+ working but I am just not that crazy with its layout.

Reason I don't like IM+ is because for me it's unreliable...messages take forever to come in, and you never know if you missed a message or if one wasn;t sent...cingular should have it 1Q '06 RIM Branded AIM client

I have it set as wap.cingular, [email address], and CINGULAR1 and I still get the tunnel error

Anything else gives me a "malformed address" error...but the above gives a tunnel opening error.

I can't believe we have unlimited internet and they can charge us for another "type" of internet =/ On the Treo it was all under one plan.
