Default Help! Application Loader not working with 8700

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, so I've come across a really weird problem here.

I have just recently upgraded to the 8700c from the 7290 this past week (I am on cingular). Just this evening, I went to go through the standard application loader process in order to uninstall Ramble IM (which I was unable to get to work properly btw), and I got the strangest error:
-----------------------------------------
No system software was found for your device.
Contact your system administrator or service provider for information on obtaining device system software.
-----------------------------------------
So at this point I am going ????????????????????????? ... and still am. I have tried completely wiping my PC clean of all blackberry software and then starting from scratch. I install the software using the given CD, and then after the install is complete, I plug the 8700c in via the USB cable. Then, go to the application loader... and boom, same thing. I don't understand this at all. I can't access any of the software on my unit to install/uninstall them. On a side note, I did have the sync correctly working previously with outlook. But up until this evening I had not tried to use the application loader process.

So, what the heck is going on here!? Thanks in advance for your help!

it seems your bb os is corrupted.
did you install the blackberry os software on your computer?
if not, download it and install it on your pc, after install, connect your 8700, restart app loader and it will install a fresh copy of the bb os.

you can download it from here

Also, just an update here.

When I go to ABOUT under the desktop manager, and then click the "device software" tab, there are no installed device systems under the device models. So how do I install it?

This is so frustrating and doesn't make any sense to me. With my 7290, I just installed the software, plugged the unit in, and it was good to go.

likefre,

Thanks for your response. Yes, I did install the software on my PC, directly off the included CD that came with my unit. Keep in mind I have tried installing it several times now after wiping all blackberry software clean off my pc. Still no luck... same thing every time.

the cd does not contain the bb os software...you have to download it, the cd has the desktop/hanheld manager software
download from the link that i provided and try that solution

likefre,

Should I wipe the desktop manager off first before installing the link you sent me? Or can I just install it now, with the desktop manager already installed?

if i were you, just to be safe, i would uninstall everything while downloading the software (it's about 20-25mb), when the download completes, i would install that and the the desktop manager..Anyway i dont think it's necessary but i would do it.
please post results as soon as you go along ...I'll be watching

Okay... so I did it. Now I can access the software installed on my device. BUT... the files I have previously installed (like the IM programs) are not listed! So how can I uninstall them?

Yes, I do... still listed under Applications. Also, the web browser icons (both the cingular icon and the html browser icon) have disappeared.

Now the browser icons have come back... but I still can't get those damn programs to show up in the application loader. How the heck can I get rid of these things?

ok...dont panic...go to settings-options-advance options-aplications.
if you can see the software you want to remove, delete it from there....the browsers issue we'll take care of that after the apps
