Anyone else notice how bad scratches on the 8700 show up. RIM should have stayed with the molded black case with no paint. looks so much better after being used for a few months. I have had my 7290 since day one and it has ton's of scratches but you cant really tell unless you look very closely. The 8700 has a painted coating on the case which will scratch off in no time. I could take it apart and buff the paint off.. hmmmm

RIM offered Cingular several color options, they chose what they got. Rogers has the black version.

After using the Nextel 7520 for years, I have come to the conclusion that the 8700 is no where near the robust build quality of the older Blackberrys. Note only will the case scratch but the NON-recessed soft plastic screen is asking for damage.

I love my 8700 but it's new looks are not going to last long at all. I wish they would have stuck to the same Blackberry form factor and given me the new screen and EDGE and left the rest alone.

I thought exactly the same thing when I saw one 2 days ago. The paint coating looks 'vulnerable' to scratches whereas the molded finish of the 72XX series seems almost 'bulletproof'....

The coating is much more apt to scratch but I really like the color. At first I was disappointed that it was not black but now I like it much better than the black.

the 7100g is painted like the 8700c and ive used the 7100g for a while and the only scratches i got on it where when i actually dropped the unit on a cement floor which knicked the plastic pretty bad...it never scratched from everyday use though.
