Exclamation SMS Error: Network out of order

Please Login to Remove!

I switched from T-mobile to Cingular for the 8700c. On TMO I was able to send super long SMS'. I noticed that when I try to send an SMS that a few lines long - I get 'X' instead of the checkmark and the error reads "Network out of order". To fix the problem, I simply break the SMS in to two (or more) shorter messages.

Does anyone else have this problem and is there away to fix it? Is this a Cingular problem or an 8700c problem?

Default Breaking down SMS

Keep searching. I read somewhere that this is done on BB's. Might be that you have to be on BES. Not sure but keep looking.

I am on a BES, and when I was on TMO I had the 7230! I think it has to do with the SIM card and its capabilities.

Is anyone using an ATT Blue SIM? If so, does this limitation disappear?

This just started happening to me today, and I just got signed up today with my BES. Is there a correlation? I try sending SMS messages and get the red X, but emails go out fine. Any ideas? Is there some setting I am missing?

me too since this afternoon...turned off and on the phone several times, took out battery, still get the 'network out of order', guess they might have server problems or overcharge at Cingular, guess we'll have to call 611 if it goes on...!

I just got off the phone with Cingular support (yes, it was painful and yes I deserve a reward.) According to them, they are experience network outages nationwide with the SMS service. When I asked him if they had an estimated time for a fix the replied “Unfortunately I am not supplied with that type of information.”

Just got a call from Cingular (yes, they called me!). There are 1.5 million sms messages that are stuck, so they are switching from the Dallas server to the Chicago server. I have no idea what "stuck" means, but i'm guessing this and the change in servers is holding everything up. I actually got two messages to go through just now.
