Question 8830 World Edition Sim problem

Please Login to Remove!

Ok so hopefully I won't make this too long winded

I bought an unlocked 8830 on alltels network a while back as I travel to Iraq and wanted to be able to use it on a diff network

I have since cancelled my contract with Alltel (lets not even go there lol)

I am now in England for a few weeks and was under the assumption I could put in an English Sim and use my blackberry here

On doing so with 2 different sims (from the same carrier) I get 2 different errors

1 says sim card rejected

the other says

insert sim card

I'm at a bit of a loss here as I was told 100% by alltel that I could do this

any ideas anyone?

I appreciate your answers

just for info - with the sim rejected error - my sim shows up just fine in advanced options / sim card

Nope, there was no alltel sim when I bought it as theirs was build into the phone, the sim holder was empty when I bought it

I am trying to use a vodafone sim from here in England

Have you talked to Voda about the issue? They may have a different perspective than Alltel did, or can determine whether the problem is your geography or the SIM cards themselves.

Sounds to me like it really isn't unlocked.

You might want to check out RoamForce, they unlocked my blackberry and provided me with SIM card that works around the world. It has cheap rates for voice and blackberry data.
