Default i730 vs. 7130e

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone who has had both of these devices give feedback on which they like better and why? I have an i730 but primarily use it for contact management and email. As a phone the i730 is lacking.... are they about the same size? Your feedback is appreciated!

I can give you a i730 vs. 7105t comparison.

With the i730 I was marginally satisfied with contact management. I was really disappointed with text messaging on the i730. I absolutely hated the fact that I had to jump on the web to text message someone. Plus the phone book could not be accessed when text messaging.
A month or so ago I picked up the 7105t with T-Mobile and couldn't be happier. Contact managment is a vast improvement over what the i730 offered. The 7105t is also lighter, only as thick as the keyboard portion of the clamshell, and shorter in height (that is including the antenna retracted on the i730). The larger screen size on the 7105t is a much welcomed improvement over the i730. Overall the i730 isn't half the phone that the 7105t is. The only thing I miss from the i730 is the built in GPS.
That being said since the 7130e builds on the existing 7100 platform, I can imagine it is only better!

I am not sure we are talking about the same phone - I am talking about the samsung i730 PPC. you could use the messaging application to do SMS without going to the web. You can also easily look up contacts from within that application. The samsung is .97 deep and i think the 7130e is .87 so they are not much different there.

OK I have had both phones. The I730 is a good phone but its huge. Its heavy and there is not real holster for it. There isnt true push email. I am very happy with my 7130e

The measurements for the phones are almost equal... is this not the case?? How much smaller is the 7130e?

I work for Verizon and have both.

I730

Pros

Large screen
Full Qwerty keyboard
Real Player
Pocket Excel and Word
Expandable Memory
Wifi

Cons

Texting is a PITA
Does push through wireless sync but not as fast as the Blackberry
Battery life sucks on this even with the extended battery, similar to my old 7250 bat.

They really are marketed to different people. One primarily e-mail the other is people working on the road needing the option to edit attachments.

I do like for the $15 extra that the 7130 can be used as an EVDO modem.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about the Nextel i730.

I was able to test drive both devices today. From my brief use I would have to say that the 7130 is the better device. The keyboard on the i730 is way too small even for a women. That alone seals it's fate for me.
