Default Need web links to T-Mobile 8800 OS 4.1 and 4.2

Please Login to Remove!

Hi:

I've recently acquired a T-Mobile 8800 with OS ver 4.1. It's unlocked and I plan to use it on Rogers.

I want to upgrade the OS to ver 4.2. I've looked on the T-Mobile web-site and they ask you to enter your T-Mobile phone number in order to continue, when you go to the 'Update Software' page for 8800 and click on 'Get Software' .

Can anyone please provide me the web links for OS ver 4.1 and 4.2 for T-Mobile 8800?

Thanks in advance.

PS: I know ver 4.5 is out there but I don't want to upgrade to that ver yet.

Hi:

Referrring to the O/S 4.2.193 link:

During the install of this O/S 4.2.1.193 on my T-Mobile 8800 (unlocked), is there any way/option to "unbrand" it from T-Mobile and select/brand it for another carrier?

I'm trying to prevent auto-SMS text messages to be sent out to the number 453 everytime I switch on my BB with my Rogers SIM. I've posted this issue in another thread in the 8800 forum (Titled "8800 SMS question").

So I'm thinking if I "unbrand" it from T-Mobile, maybe I can get rid of this SMS messages issue that are sent out automatically.

Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

No you cannot Legally unbrand a device.
