| | Backlight Brightness - More than 100%?

Apropos of another message on this board, let's see if I've got this right.
You set the "Automatic Backlight" to "Off" on your BB 8700,
You set the "Backlight Brightness" to "100," and
You set the "Backlight Timeout" to, say, "30 sec."
Now, you've had the BB in the holster, take it out, take note of the Brightness (presumably at the "100" setting). You wait 30 seconds, the screen dims a bit, but then you roll the trackwheel and then, presumably, take the screen's brightness back to "100."
But, lo, you next tap the on/off button and, behold, the screen gets "extra bright" - noticeably brighter than before the on/off button tap.
In other words, with a tap to your on/off button, you go to "extra bright." After 30 seconds, the screen dims, you roll the trackwheel, you cannot get back to what I've called "extra bright" unless you hit the on/off button again.
Is this a feature or a bug? Is this "normal" (i.e., do all your 8700's work this way)?
