Default 7130e Envy

I own the BB 7100i and I went to the VZW store today to test drive the 7130e. I must say that I am jealous. I love the look and feel (the keyboard) of the 7130e and the web browsing is amazing. I love the ability to be able to us it as a modem as well.

For the experts out there, will the Nextel 7100i ever have these capabilities?

- Tethering
- High Speed Web browsing

Thinking of switching...

Considering that the iDen network is nowhere near the speeds of EVDO, I think that High Speed Web browsing is out of the question.

From Wikipedia:
"iDEN is a technology with no clear path for high speed wireless data. It is thought that as part of the Sprint Nextel merger, 1xEV-DO will become the infastructure for 3G data to both Sprint and Nextel customers, as part of the transition to CDMA2000."

What about WiDen? Anyway to enable that on the 7100i like people are doing on the Moto i930?

I know it's not nearly the speed of EV-DO, but at least it's an improvement of what we currently have.

A good question to put forth to our friends at Sprint/Nextel...

Nope. I sell Nextel and WiDen is not any better than iDEN.
Sprint will eventually release 87XX version on EVDO. Maybe a 71XX model.

Cingular has the 90 day exclusive on the 8700 right? I played with the 8700 as well, the screen is incredible. Maybe when/if Sprint gets it I will switch.

Cingulars exclusive is with the 8700; the CDMA version will be called something else, like an 8750. That has nothing to do with Cingular's exclusive (GSM/EDGE model). That is holding T-Mobile back from marketing it in the US. Not Sprint, Nextel and Verizon. They can't market the 8700c.
