Less than 2 days....my first BB and I'm just now installing the desktop software. I'm guessing I click add email in outlook, but what do I do after that? What type of server is it?

are you asking if when you back it up if it goes to the inbox in outlook or are you asking for the server settings to get your blackberry e-mail address e-mail in outlook?

The Desktop Manager allows you to sync your Outlook contacts, tasks, memos, and calendar. Connect your BB via USB and start the manager. Double-click the Intelisync icon and configure your PIM for Outlook.

I'm using my new BB email addy for email. I've never used Outlook. I know HOW generally, but not in terms of the BB. Still lost!

The only reason to use Outlook for email sending to your BB is with the desktop redirector. But you need to be on a Microsoft Exchange server.

Basically, I use Outlook for syncing my A-book, calendar, tasks. I hae my web client account set to poll my other email accounts, like Gmail. If you do a search for Gmail Setup you will find out how to do this.

I think what is wanted is to skip getting the blackberry e-mail to the device but right to outlook. I will look to see if that is possible

Thanks JRock! That's about right. I don't want to skip the device, but I just want to be able to compose w/ my bb email address from Outlook.

whsbuss - I already have gmail. I tried to set it up when I first got my BB, but no emails would come through. While browsing the site, it just seemed to be more trouble than it was worth. Plus, if I sent my gmail to my BB my phone would be eternally receiving email minute by minute.

Well, I finally found my answer and I'm thoroughly disappointed.

"These features are not applicable because the tmo.blackberry.net account is a device-only account with no server interface."

What a bummer! I guess I have to set up an additional gmail account. It's too bad all the sensible email addys are taken. Now I'm gonna have to be xxxsexyhotbbchicxxx or some stupid crap like that. I'm sure I'll figure something out.
