Default OS: 8700 4.5.0.294/4.5.0.174 (Multilanguage)

Please Login to Remove!

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.294 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.294
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.174
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.105
  • File name: 8700M_PBr4.5.0_rel294_PL2.7.0.105_A4.5.0.174_AVEA. exe
  • File size: 78.92MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download the OS file here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...F22A6C2A830A17

Instructions for installing on ANY 8700 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."

If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Installed fine on my 8700G. May have actually freed up some additional memory, more than the last few OS upgrades.

English UK
French
Italian
German

Other than possibly freeing up some memory, has anyone noticed any other significant changes/benefits to upgrading to the newest release? Could you possibly list them out for us please?

Thanks.

Just upgraded to os 4.5.0.162. What's better about this one? I see some people mention freeing up space. Is that all? Kind of sounds worth it.

Not to much difference from the other recent OS. Nothing I've noticed myself. Maybe better performance and battery life but literally just upgraded.

Ok, so since the upgrade I've noticed my signal increase. Normally I'd be at -98db. I'm now at around -105db.

HI, I'm a BB newbie so please bear with me!

After loading the update Latest OS: 8700 4.5.0.294/4.5.0.174 (Multilanguage) onto my 8700 which is on Orange PAYG in the UK (Was locked to o2 contract before I had it unlocked), I find that:-

I have no browser icon. However when I open an app, press the scroll wheel and switch to the browser it says:-

"Your Device does not currently have any Browser Configuration Service Book entries.

Please Contact....etc"

Secondly, when trying to compose an e-mail I get:-

"No message services configured. You will only be able to save draft"

Please can one of you kind folks advise what I have done incorrectly?

PS
I am receiving SMS messages OK from my provider, but no e-mail whatsoever.

Many thanks for your help.

Default Black screen after upgrade

Hi,

What's the difference between 4.5.0.294 and the latest AT&T version 4.5.0.152? I just spent 4 hours and many attempts to get to 4.5.0.142, each time resulting in dark screen. Not expecting this I tried connecting DM and each time ended up with cyclic reboot/red light, and tried all over again with Loader. I eventually gave up and went back to 4.2.1.155 which loaded fine - very quickly went to white screen with hourglass spinning, confirming that I was upgrading correctly.

Any info gratefully received, I'd like to get to 4.5.x.y

By the way, to Koz152, a change from -98db to -105db is actually a signal decrease, not increase.

Many thanks
