Synch calendar to company exchange w/out BES?

Hi Folks,

Here's a noob question for you. Is there any way to wirelessly synch the calendar in my 7130e with my calendar on the corporate Outlook/Exchange server without using BES? While my company does have BES they have relegated it to folks of VP level or better. I'm not quite at that leve..... yet. ;-)

So far the only solution I have found is the usb synch using the desktop manager. While this works well I desperately need something more "real time".

One other question... if there is no way to do the synch over the standard wireless connection, is it possible to do it using the desktop manager and bluetooth?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

Eric

I am hoping we can do this via bluetooth once 4.1 bets released.

Bluetooth sync will still not be real time. It just won't require a cable connection.

Answer: without a BES, there is no way to do real time calendar sync.

That's a bummer. Any idea why RIM hasn't added the Calendar Synch to the redirector? It works quite well with the email, I'm sure they could certainly do something cool with the calendar as well.

I understand that the bluetooth synch will be batch based, but that said, I am hoping that it might be able to take advantage of the auto-synch that I see currently available for the cable. My thought would be that any time I come into range of the bluetooth link, it would self synch. Dunno if that's realistic or not, but it would be a nice option.

It will be interesting to see what happens now that Microsoft is set to put some competitive pressure on RIM with their new smartphones.

Because they are in the business of selling BES. Redirector is very old technology and not that heavily used.

Eventually Microsoft will get it right with their Smartphones. If you have Exchange 2003, etc.
