Default How do you lock the keyboard on the 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

I am a current 7100 convert to the 8700c. But i am missing a few things from my old blackberry.

1) I used to be able to hold down one of the keys on the 7100 and change the profile from loud to vibrate and back. Is there a way to do this on the 8700

2) I used to also hold down the * key on the 7100 but now it just asks me if i want to setup a speed dial setting for that letter?

I know that these are simple questions but ive never had any of the full keyboard blackberries so your help would be greatly appreciated. I have searched for a solution but all i found was holding down the * key which does not work for me.

Thanks guys this forum is awesome. Even the cingular forum has people posting links to this site.

You can program one of the keys to do it if you want

Options > Screen/Keyboard > Side conveince key or front conveinence key > Keyboard lock.

or you can just hit the keyboard lock icon on the main menu

Alt + Return (enter) will auto lock your keypad

This may be old but:
Hold Alt + Hit Esc will bring up a pop up (in any screen) that allows you to jump around pretty easily. Options shown are: "Home Screen", "Browser", "Blackberry Messenger", "BrickBreaker", "Phone", "Messages"

If you have the shortcuts enabled on the home screen, you can tap the "K" key and it will lock the keyboard.

Yeah, with shortcuts enabled, a tap will execute the shortcut, holding the key down will attempt to dial a speeddial if one is assigned to that key, or it will ask you if you want to assign one.

I programmed my center convenience key to invoke screen lock. Works like a charm.
