Default My BB8700 is dead. Long live my 7100t.

Please Login to Remove!

Well, I wiped the 8700 because my bluetooth was disconnecting from my Acura Hands Free Link. The plan was to reinstall the OS. However, after the wipe, all I get is the hourglass. Nothing I can do. It's d-e-a-d. I have to remove the battery just to switch it off.

Long live my wonderful reliable 7100t! I prefer it anyway. Sure the reception is a bit iffy. Sure the web is a bit slow. But on every other count, the 7100t is the winner.

Pros for the 7100t:
Smaller
Bigger keys (I love Suretype)
More durable
SMS delivery receipts (hard to live without when you are used to having them)
Less choppy sound
Bluetooth really works in my car
Cuter looking IMHO
Better sounding ringtones
Reliable

I left the 8700 and went back to my heavy duty Nextel 7520 today and am glad I did. I did love the fast internet and better screen, but the build qulaity of the 8700 had much to be desired.

My 7520 get mail and phone calls just as fast and the phone works WAY better on the 7520.

We had the same issue... but the person who had the problem, said he connected it to AC power and left it for a bit (an hour or so) after it was originally hour glassing for about 2 hours and said when he came back to it that it was fine again and prompting for a new device password.

I personally wiped my 8700 and saw no issue with it coming back and then re EA'ing it...

Well my two day old 8700 was dead when I looked this morning,time/date needed setting-left it standby last night with wireless off,is this a new battery symptom or should I consider sending the unit back?

EDIT:The 8700 was in its supplied case which seems too tight,if a button was pushed down for a prolonged period by the force of the case would that drain the battery even if 'lock when holstered' was enabled?

FWIW, there's a way to wipe/reload the OS without the battery in. I had a similar screwup with my 8700c, and while it took some effort, I was able to get it running good-as-new.
