Default Internet Browser finally on Cingular?

Please Login to Remove!

Looks like Cingular finally enabled the Internet Browser down? Actually; I have a 7100g and a 7290. Only the 7100 has the Internet Browser. I noticed it about a week ago. I can now use the Push services on mobile.blackberry.com. Whats weird, however, is there is no Internet Browser on my 7290, nor on my friends.

Anyone have any insight as to why its only on my 7100? And has anyone else used it much on Cingular and would care to share your thoughts? I have found they have the home page locked, which is a bit annoying.

I use the blackberry browser rather than the Cingular browser. If you don't have the browser, you should be able to go to cingular.com/blackberry, login to your bb account, and re-send the service book.

i didnt do anything to get the internet browser, it just showed up one day under applications. i did call cingular a while back requesting the internet browser. while talking to cingular support, i eventually ended up talking directly to RIM. they told me the internet browser availability is up to the provider, which at the time cingular didnt offer/support. so far i havent found anyone else on cingular who also has it.

note that im talking about the Internet browser, not the Cingular or Blackberry. i have all 3 now.

cingular browser came with the phone but of course it sucks.

blackberry browser was only added when i activated on an enterprise server.

internet browser just showed up one day about a week ago.

i know this is different than the blackberry browser, because if you try to access the push services on mobile.blackberry.com with either cingular or BB browser, you are told you are using an incompatible browser. if you access it with internet browser, you are able to subscribe to push services such as weather (which is pretty nice).

Oh somebody please help me. I was told by the gal at Cingular when I got my new (to me, bought a 7290 on Ebay) Blackberry that I would be better off, since I don't leave the office that much, to have a prepaid plan (GoPhone) which I then purchased after they sent me the SIM card. Well there's no browser on there. She told me point blank that I could go on the internet, but no push email, so I figured, that's fine, I'll just go to mail2web.com when I have an important email I'm waiting for and I'm at an audition or otherwise away from the laptop. Well WRONGO unless somebody knows something different. According to them any other phone will go online but not the Blackberry. For that they want me to buy both a voice and data service, around $80 a month for the two of them. For the little use I will have for this, it's more than I need. ANY IDEAS? There is no browser at all on this Blackberry.

I have no experience with the prepaid, but I can tell you with a fair amount of certainty that you will need a separate data plan, whether its email or browsing. It isnít cheap, either. I pay about $30 a month for my voice and $45 for my data. Itís the unlimited GPRS plan, and this allows me to do all the data I want.

I donít think there could be a prepaid data plan, but I donít know for sure. There are smaller plans for like $20 or $25, cant remember. Again I donít know the prepaid side, call the 800 # for cingular and talk to different people. Unfortunately different people will sometimes yield different answers.

PS-I visited NYC over the summer. Man I love that place. I would so love to move there.

gprs is through cingular. gprs is the (unlimited) data plan, seperate from voice.

The Internet browser just showed up on my Cingular 7290 about a week ago, so now I have all three.

Default Sorting it out...

I got my 7290 three days ago and have spent hours figuring everything out. One issue that annoys me is the browswer issues. Here's the deal: my company is on Cingular, I have GPRS (at least that is what appears next to the bars on the display), and I'm told I have unlimited data through work. The BB came with mMode browser ready to go. I can access many WAP sites, but pretty much everything I want to do, I can't. I get error messages about pages being out of date or "Could not translate HTML page into HDML." So, my questions...

1. What is the mMode browser? Is it WAP only?
2. Is this different from the BB or Internet Browser programs I've seen discussed?
3. How do I get the others?
4. Is it realistic to expect to view richer pages, such as Yahoo HTML, on the BB? The Y! mobile doesn't do everything I want, like yellow pages or movie showtimes, etc.
5. I have Berry 411, but the browswer won't display any results for almost any search. I'm guessing this is a browser issue, not a Berry411 problem.

Sorry for the shotgun o' questions, but I'm ready to master this thing, and the browser is pretty much the last thing standing in my way!

Merry Christmas!

I just switched back to using my 7100g from the Treo 650 and I have noticed that the Internet Browser is available now where it wasn't before. I just noticed this week, so I'm not sure how long that has been available. I don't have the BlackBerry browser though and I suspect that's because I'm not using BES. I like the Internet Browser better than the Cingular browser. I had asked about the Internet browser when I purchased the 7100g when it was released and I was told that Cingular had disabled it. There must have been alot of complaints about that or requests for it.

Have you got your BB set up, got data plan, getting email, etc. Is the browser the only thing you are missing? have you sent the service books to your BB?

Have you read the FAQ and stickies?

This subject is actually about a specific browser, there are 3, Blackberry, Internet and Cingular browsers possible on the Cingular BB.

I have a 7100g in the Atlanta area. When I upgraded my phones software to v4.0.2.49 (platform 1.8.0.142) the internet broswer showed up. Now I have a BB, Cingular & Internet Browser.

Try this link: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...E4F82F9F00E7D4

To see what version your phone has go to Settings/Options/About.

I have a 7100G with Cingular and I am trying to get Verichat working. The BB Rep at Cingular pushed the BB Browser to me, thanks, but when I launch it I get HTTP Error 403 Forbidden. Not authorized to view the page. When we started she had me delete the service book and she pushed it back out to me. If you go to Host Routing Table and Click Renew it is supposed to re-register with the netowrk. I am not sure if I am helping or mudding the water, but wanted to add my 2cents!
