Default New ATT/Cingular 7290 -- poor battery life

I am a new BlackBerry user. I just switched from a Treo 600 and have noticed that the battery life of the BB 7290 seems a bit weak. I prefer to leave the BB on 24/7 and it seems as though a recharge is needed on a daily or every other day basis.

Is this normal? Is there something that can be done to increase the battery life? Please advise. Thanks.

I have noticed the same problem. Its not near as bad as the Nextel 7510 but it in noticable compared to the 7210 or other AT&T models

I have a 7290, and I leave it on 24/7 and the battery would last me about 3 days with some call time.

the 7210 - 7230 would stay charged for a week or so with lots of talk time.

I checked into Bluetooth and it is disabled. It has never been enabled.

Default Battery lifetime before replacement?

I have a related question...

A user of mine wants to know approx. what the lifetime of the 7290 battery is before it needs to be replaced. I know this depends on usage but could you perhaps compare it to an average normal cell phone.

Does it have about the battery life as a normal cell phone, significantly better or significantly worse? I tend to think most average normal cell phones last about a year with heavy usage.

If you have info regarding a related model BB, I'd appreciate that as well.

Thanks in advance.

Al

I have noticed that if you are going in and out of coverage areas and it is searching for a network, the battery life is impacted. I leave my 7290 on 24/7 and usually after three days the battery is down to 90%. Most of my use is data though, not a ton of voice use.
