Default 7100g VS 7290?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been researching these two models for a month now and I have yet to figure out which is better for my needs. I need it mainly for its PDA features and phone.

7100g VS 7290
1. Which has better phone quality (less likely to have dropped calls, fewer complaints, clear sound)?
2. Which has better PDA features?

PLEASE help me. I'm desperate because I have to buy it today! This is going to be my first BB, and I want to make the right choice. Thanks.

1. Neither of them are "great" phones. I think there are more complaints with the 7100, but that is really subjective.

2. Identical PIM functions. Identical.

If you need a phone that does good e-mail, get the 7100g. If you need an e-mail device that is a decent phone, get the 7290.

I have the 8700c, which is my favorite BB to date.

NJ, where did you purchase the 8700c? and for how much? I currently have the 7290 (I bought it about 2 months ago) and I very tempted to upgrade it. do you think it would be worth the upgrade?

why not?

better screen, way faster processor, faster network (EDGE vs GPRS), speakerphone are just the few improvements off the top of my head...

i guess the only drawback is the cost... but it sure is a nice toy...

Maybe it's just me, but I've still got a 7230 and find really nothing wrong with it (obviously a few things that could be improved). Everyone says that the phone function on the 7200 series is lacking, but I actually like the phone's operations.

I find the phone functionality on the 7290 to be great, I love the device. The 8700 is nice, but not worth the huge $$ they want for it. I mean if you surf the web a lot on your BB, then the 8700 is a no brainer, otherwise primarily as a PIM, instant email and occassional surfing, the 7290 is just fine, IMO.
