Default As far as the VZW update and EVDO on the 7250

Hey all - Happy Holidays !

I've read most of these posts and are extremely impressed by the knowledge that all of you show.

Unfortuantely I did the update last night, with customer service putting the proper codes in and I got very nervous.

#1) 1XEV to me and MY opinion only was not that much faster then the current 1x and really not worth the $15.00

#2) the status arrow in the upper right corner, looked like it was going to have a heart attack the way it was blinking...and with that in mind the battery im sure was not long for a good charge

#3) things just seemed slower in my opinion in the operating system of the 7250

#4) and probaby the most important thing to me is that VZW CS said that they would not support this...being that it is not a public feature and only for those using BB...does that mean I void my warranty? does that mean if the BB breaks I own now a $199 paper weight?

so all in all, i reverted back to the original software both for the Desktop Mgr and Handheld Software...

hey, im not saying what you guys did was wrong, but my entire business runs on that BB and I can't afford to be without it...

Thanks for listening and to you and yours, Happy Holidays !

BF

BF - There's a stickied thread at the top of this forum dedicated entirely to this subject. By now there's probably enough information to last you quite some time and then some. I would advise working your way through that thread and posting your thoughts there, it would benefit you and others more.

Since we're here already....

1. I am surprised that you did not experience the enhanced browsing speed with the EVDO upgrade that everybody else did. I don't actually live in an EVDO-covered area so I see a 1X instead of a 1x, and I STILL experienced a significant increase. And when I do go to an EVDO-covered location (which is often for work) the increase is that much greater. As for the $15, my understanding is that you should only be charged the extra if you plan to use your Blackberry as a modem for a laptop. Otherwise, the simple addition of Broadband Access Connect is free of charge. It's actually a different unlimited data plan, this one with the Broadband Access Connect feature included (for the same price as before).

2. True, if you are constantly sending/receiving data you will definitely experience a drain on your battery. But I can't imagine why your device would be doing that. When you completed the upgrade, did you *228 to update your PRL?

3. I kind of experienced that somewhat, especially when disconnecting calls, but not really at a significant level. Definitely not enough to make me revert back to the previous configuration.

4. VZW said they would not support this??!!?? That is absolutely ridiculous! It is a feature-add (provided to you and added to your account by VZW) to a Blackberry mobile device (sold to you by VZW). Once I heard a VZW rep say that I would have immediately asked to speak with someone a bit higher on the food chain.

Im sorry about the misposting...

As far as the Broadband, it was not that noticable to me...but they specifically told me I would be charged $15 a month for this service...No mention of tethering...

Yes I did a *228 option 1...

and YES, these people told me they will not support this...1st person said I am messing with the chip set...second person said it is not a supported product for regular customers just BB...

hence i went back to VZW Store today and they swapped it out for a brand new out of the box BB...ehhhhhh...whatcha gonna do, it just wasn't my day...

on a side note I checked out the new BB...looks awful...stick with the 7250...
again Happy Holidays to everyone...
