Yes, I have. Even government sites requiring a PKI certificate.

Can you elaborate on how you did it? I have read alot of posts that say they cannot access any sites with the Blackberry that require a secure log in.

We use the BB bluetooth smartcard setup and I remember you metioned that you had discovered a potential flaw or security issue with this device. Could you enlighten me either on the bluetooth forum or PM before a full scale deployment?

I have found some issues but they are not security related. They have more to do with documentation and problems when multiple devices are paired. I also had a problem with encryption and decryption of S/MIME messages. The documentation is so sparse that it is hard to figure out at the moment.

Update. I just got home and no EDGE or GPRS so I called Cingular since I did have a signal at work. Turns out they are doing maintenance in my area until 5:00am tomorrow. So I will have to wait to do my tests unless I get to another area tonight.

Based on my experience, with the BB browser on the 8700, you cannot submit data to any sites requiring 128-bit encryption (viz: Bank of America website, etc.) If anybody has a workaround for this, I'd be interested to hear it.

If you install desktop 4.1 there is a new tab for certificates, you can import pki certs onto your handheld using this. If you don't seem to have the ability to access secure http sites, you may have to use the app loader to upgrade your handheld OS or install the https components onto your handheld as I don't think they are installed by default.

I think Corey has identified the issue. You need to install the certs onto your handheld. I hadn't thought about it because I started doing that a while back in order to access various government sites that I need.

My browser settings are:
Content Mode WML & HTML
Show Images On WML & HTML Pages
Show Image Placeholders Yes
Emulation Mode BlackBerry (I sometimes change this for some sites)
Support HTML Tables Checked
Use Foreground and Background Colors Checked
Support Embedded Media Checked
Support JavaScript Checked
Allow Java Scripts Pop Ups Checked
Support Style Sheets Checked
Style Sheets Media TYpe HandHeld (I sometimes play with this one too)

You will need to use the app loader and make sure you have Java Script support for the browser checked and I also have the DOD root cert checked and BlackBerry Attachment Service checked. I know I have been able to log onto my credit union account. I will test with my B of A account later today when I have a data signal.

I just had a request from one of my users to install a certificate for a secure site and I am playing with my 7520 to find the answer and I upgraded my desktop software to 4.1 but the app loader says I have no OS. I checked the version on the BB and it says 4.1.0.273. This is what came pre loaded from nextel. Should I re-install the OS?

And then, where is this tab in the desktop software for the certs? I don't see it.

Reserecting an old thread here. I have never had much success in viewing https sites with the built in BB Browser or the Cingular Browser on my 8700C. I seem to have all of my settings the same as yours, with the exception of the DOD Root certificates. I believe I skipped this during the ast OS install.

My problems with https sites vary to include not loading at all, to loading but giving error messages at user name password entry, etc. On the other hand, I can access all of these sites with Opera Mini 3.

I have never messed with the server certificate selections as I am clueless as to what they actually do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
