Default is it worth unlocking a 7230?

Disclaimer - i don't need bluetooth or the features of the 7290.

i picked up this device from a buddy who upgraded to a newer BB. It's a 7230, in great condition.

I have cingular, he told me that the phone was cingular, when it shows up, it's t-mobile. I can't change to t-mobile (long story).

I've heard that unlocking them can be a pain, and that some apps might not work right even if they are unlocked.

My buddy said that he'd refund it to me if I need to. So i'm not SOL.

I'm just trying to figure out if I should go about trying to unlock it, or whether I should just sell it and get a cingular phone. I got a smoking deal on this one, so it's hard to give it up...

I have a Cingular 7290 for sale. Its only a few months old...if that will help.

Side note, I have an unlocked 7230 available also. Was on T-Mobile....now unlocked.
