I'm not at a computer to walk you throught the exact steps. But, start desktop manager and then connect your blackberry. If your blackberry is passwork protected, you will be prompted for the password. You must also unlock the blackberry.
A caveat: The newer desktop manager versions will not sync with the older versions of Outlook. If you are using Outlook 2000, then you will need to use desktop manager version 4.2 SP2. (Search blackberry.com for detailed information on this issue.)
Click on the sychronization module. Find the link for synchronization settings. Go through all the options. There are three or four things you need to do that I can think of off hand:
You'll need to identify the desktop application you want to sync with. For example, Outlook. But you may be presented with several options, including Yahoo.
You'll want to look through options for each database (calendar, tasks ...) and set parameters for each. For example, how many days in the past do you want to sync the calendar? And set the conflict resolution mode.
Set the sync direction. You probably want bi-directional. Just make sure it is set to what you want.
Check the box for sync whenever you connect. In my opinion, you want to do this. (Also set automatic backup in the backup/restore module.)
When you save, it should start a sync cycle.
