Default Yahoo Messenger for 7290

In my search of information regarding instant messenger, I found numerous articles stating that YIM would be integrated with Blackberry. Has this happened yet? Is there some kind of patch I'm supposed to download to get this, or is it not yet available for my 7290 on Cingular?

I tried out IM+, and the trial period has expired. It costs about $40. Before I spend that kind of money I wanted to know if there's something else available through Blackberry....or if there are other third-party solutions which are worth evaluating.

Verichat and IM+ seem to be the most stable and popular programs. Verichat offers a 15 day trial.

Unfortunately Verichat charges an annual fee. For this reason, many have gone with IM+.

I'm in the same boat as you: I primarily use Yahoo Messenger, and I don't want to fork out the money if YIM is coming to my carrier soon.

However, I probably will buy IM+, as it handles several different services...which gives it more flexibility than the RIM YIM application...

Yahoo IM and Cingular don't get along. it is sad and that was one of the reason I am still with T-mo.
