| It is possible to make calls while the device is locked if 2 things are done:
1 - The BES Admin updates the IT Policy to allow it
2 - The user changes the setting in the security options. The option is added when the device receives the IT Policy, but by default the value is set to 'No'.
The reason you can't access the address book is so people cannot take advantage of it if you lose the device or if it's stolen. The purpose of allowing you to make the call in the first place is, perhaps, to call back someone who just called you (and maybe you missed the call). I thought it was kind of weird when we turned it on (I'm the BES Admin), but I can see the purpose of protecting the address book.
BTW, this is only available with BES 4.0 and HH code 4.0 or higher. |
