I have bought an unlocked 8830, i am using it on Vodafone GSM network in New Zealand. everything is great so far. but only problem is "My Number" shows on dial screen is different with my current sim card number.
I have edit my phone number 021****** under options- advanced options- simcard, but still make no difference. my number still shows 2058760583 ( is it a CDMA number come with the phone in its origin?)
I had 8100 before, once I put my number under simcard option above, my number will change. Why not 8830? Anybody can help?
From the home screen, type ##000000 and then the send key (I think that's it) to get to the CDMA screen where you can change the number. The 8830 is really a CDMA device that happens to have some GSM capabilities.
The above should work given it's a Verizon device. If it is a Sprint 8830, that will not work.

Well, try taking the SIM out and trying again. Not sure if that'll help or not, but worth a shot.

is it possible anybody can help me to ring Verizon to find a solution? there is no Verizon in New Zealand. and Vodafone here wouldn't support. Thanks a lot.
2058760583 ( is it a CDMA number come with the phone in its origin?) ##000000 is Verizon's password? There is no Verizon in New Zealand, the CDMA I connect is Telecom, so the ##000000 wont work here?
