I have a this phone the WORLD EDITION on verizon. Even though it says WORLD EDITION, do I need to unlock it you use a GSM on any network.

I know its a CDMA & GSM

No, not ANY GSM network...

An 8830 from Verizon can only be used on Verizon in the US and on GSM carriers overseas (assuming the SIM card has been activated for international use).

You cannot use it on any other US carriers.
