Thumbs up It's ALIVE!!! (USB port repair)

The USB port in my 8800 took a hike so I picked up an 8900(my farewell to my 8800 is here)
Well, long story short, I don't have the 8900 anymore, so I pulled out my 8800 and went to work.

Huge thanks to the guy who made this video. I wasn't sure how to get that last plastic shield off without damaging something until I found it.
YouTube - Blackberry 8830 8800 FULL disassemble, broken Mini usb

As you can see in the first picture below, the shield and all 5 pins lifted from the motherboard. I pulled the whole connector off and carefully bent everything so the pins would be pressed against the board when I re-soldered them. I also re-crimped the shield so it held the plastic connector firmly in place, it was fairly loose(the 2 tabs folded down that kind of form a W shape, there's two more on the bottom). A little bit of solder and voila, It's ALIVE!!!

Pins and shield broken away from mother board

Everything soldered back in place

I'm glad to be back to this phone, it's just a much more solid piece than the 8900. Welcome home.
