Default Modem use charges are in

Please Login to Remove!

ADDL DATA $0.0048/KB 2226 KB(S) 10.68

Now that's my corporate rate, so I won't be using it for hours or on the web much, but to grab email on the go that would be fine.

Interesting though. I connected at least twice and it only shows one date. I wonder if having "proxy" in the APN on the TCP settings vs the intialization string make a difference. I will have to check that out with some documented testing.

What are others seeing in terms of rates?

Based in the mention of "proxy", I assume you're on Cingular Blue. Is that correct?

Default Yes I am Cingular Blue

I know I connected twice and was tweaking the settings. In my tips I indicate that you have proxy to the APN you don't need it in the string. Just something I will have to try out.

I am seeing similar charges on my bill:

Category Type of Service Description Allowed Used Remaining
DATA BLACKBERRY $49.99 ADDL DATA $0.0048/KB 0 262 0

Are these charges typical for an Cingular BLUE customer, or just the result of another Cingular provisioning debacle? I appreciate any insight that someone could give...

Default I was expecting this but

Did you have proxy in your TCP/APN settings. I could swear I logged on twice and only got charged once. I have to test whether I put that in the intialization string or the TCP/APN settings. Also my understanding is that using it as a modem was never intended to be covered in the BB unlim plan. I think the Orange customers will get billed too.

I am going to try a few experiments tonight with various settings on both my BlackBerry and my RAZR...will let you know the results. It seems that the data usage gets updated in "My Minutes" fairly quickly, so hopefully will be able to test a few options quickly.

As an aside, Stinsonddog did you ever have a mobile internet plan on your account (non-BB unlimited data)? I called Business Care and they informed me that the reason I might be charged for data was that the Mobile Internet plan was never fully removed (whatever that is supposed to mean). I tried accessing the internet on my RAZR today, and no additional data charges were incurred. Interesting...

Will post back with my findings...

To my knowledge I never had a mobile internet plan. I am Cingular Blue. Never used the internet except on a BB.
