Default 8700 Series Nextel Release Date

I just got off the phone with my Nextel account manager. She said that from the information that she has gotten, they will not be selling the 8700 until the 2nd quarter of 2006. Sucks for us Nextel users.

Yeah, I know, but Q2 starts April 1st. That's two months after Cingulars deal runs out. Sprint/Nextel really drags their feet on new phones.

Well the 8700 is GPRS/EDGE and Nextel is iDEN, so it will be a completely new product.
The easiest thing I can see is for them to offer a EVDO/CDMA unit

I doubt the 8700 will be on the iDEN network. Makes more sense to put it on the CDMA network to take advantage of EVDO.
