8820 Memory Question

I have an 8820, and when I use appworld to download apps it warns me that my device memory is below 5MB. However when I connect the device to DM, it says that I have over 20MBs available for apps. I was wondering if this is a common problem, or if it is just an error on either part.

Cheers.

Do a battery pull and then check free memory in options > status.

I don't know what you are looking at in DM, offhand, but app world is telling you your free memory at the moment.

If you are down to 10 or 11MB after a battery pull, you could be dropping to 5 after a while and with apps running.

Be careful or you'll start losing caLl logs and messages, etc.

Thanks for the advice. I use DM for mac, and that is where I'm seeing the available memory.

I'll definitely do the memory check and get rid of some of the apps I don't use.

Thanks again.

Find the sticky by John Clark on ways to get rid of stuff you don't need.

I think I know where you are. You upgraded to 4.5 and found you took a big memory hit when you did.

An easy way to pick up a few MB is to get rid of the hidden themes and the carrier themes you do not use. But see Johnks sticky post.

Excellent thanks. After a batt pull it goes from 2.5MB to 10MB, so def getting bogged down from use.

I'll check out the sticky and get rid of that stuff.

Cheers again.

according me:
People often get confused as to which size memory card they will need for their Blackberry 8820. The size MicroSD or MicroSDHC card that a person will need for their 8820 with the pen on what they will be using the card for. If you will be just using it to store documents, then smaller cards sizes up to 512 MB can do. If you need the extra memory on the phone to save movies, music, ring tones, videos and pictures, then you should consider getting one of the bigger capacity cards. These cards are often 1GB, 2GB, 4GB, 6GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. Because memory card prices are constantly falling, it is always good to get the biggest possible card that fits within your budget.
