Default Cingular Connection Manager - Modem Tethering

Has anyone get the Cingular Connection Manager to work with their Blackberry 8700C?

I keep getting a 720 error about PPP when it tries to connection to the EDGE network.

Any thoughts? I have the unlimited data plan from Cingular - shouldnt I be able to use the Cingular Connection MAnager and connect at high speeds?

I get the same error on my T-mobile 7290.

How did you resolve "error 720" ???

three tips for you
1.make sure you are using cingular COMMUNICATION manager, no connection manager as the driver is in version 5.1 and higher in COMMUNICATION MANAGER

2. make sure desktop manager is running and your BB is connected and seen by desktop manager

3. i would suggest using a DUN connection

Only if you're paying for tethering on top of that. $30/month more, IIRC.

When you open your modem connection screen right before dialing, clip properties next to dial. Click the networking tab. Click Settings under the PPP drop box. I have TMobile and I have the first two boxes checked and everything works perfectly. Try playing with those check boxes.

It is true, you have to pay for a tethering plan on top of your BB unlimited plan. I have read the small print on the unlimited plan several times and it indicates that tethering is not included:

Blackberry Tethering Plan with Cingular!

I'm using T-mobile, not Cingular. I'm not familiar with any COMMUNICATION manager ?

Desktop manager is running

I am using a dial up connection.

Still getting same error ;-(

I am using Cingular and have used the connection manager for modem tethering. You will need them to add the "tethering" capabilities to your unlimited plan. Not sure if this costs extra or not as I just had it added to my companies bill.
