Default Bluetooth Issues w/ HS820

Please Login to Remove!

I have an HS 820 paired with my 8700. It will sometimes disconnect during a call but the major problem I am running into is that when I try and power down the Bluetooth headset by holding the button it immediately places a call on the 8700. The only way I can turn the headset off is by taking it to another room and doing it.

I don't know if something is wrong with the hs820 or the connection or what but I never had this problem with the 7100g.

Has anyone else had any issues, I know there have been problems with car kits, but this was a new one to me.......

Thanks in advance for any help;

I had an HS820 that I was using with my 7250. The performance was horrible in every respect and it had glitches. I got fed up and returned it. Not that it has anything to do with your 8700 problem, but just venting my prejudice against the thing!

Wonder if you just had a defective one. I have had the complete opposite experience with the HS820. It is one of the best perfomers of the BT headsets I have tried. Connects/disconnects almost immediately, loud and clear on both ends, comfy to use, reasonable battery life.

Here are the problems I had
  1. Could not get enough volume from the unit - even turned all the way up, I could not hear the other party when driving with the sunroof open (which is not at all loud in my car).
  2. Sometimes the other party could not hear me at all
  3. Sometimes the other party would hear popping and cracking
  4. Sometimes I would hear popping and cracking
  5. Wind noise interference complaints from the other party even in very low wind situations
Other than that, it was great!

But seriously, it connected fine with the unit and battery life seemed OK, but everything else about it sucked. Maybe it was defective, but I wasn't in the mood for trying the same thing again!

It sounds to me like you are activating the redial function rather than the turn off function. Sometimes it is merely a matter of how long a button is held down. Short may be turn off while long may be redial or it could be the other way around. That is what is sounds like to me. RTFM and let us know.

You must have had a bad unit, I have an HS820 with a 7250 as well, I have no trouble whatsoever with any of the issues you mention. Volume is good, could be louder but then again I do not try to talk while driving with the windows down flying down the parkway, Clarity is exceptional both ways, I am heard well and as a matter of fact some people are even amazed at the fact that I am using a headset at all, there has never been an issue with any crackling at all. I hear with great clarity as well. Battery life is not affected at all but then again I have an extended battery, and the battery on the headset lasts me somewhere around 4 to 5 hours on each charge.

I have to admit though from reading these forums though that it seems that headset performance and evaluation of same, is subjective at the very least.
