First of all, look at the 88xx thread... there is a sticky at the top of each device forum with information about the latest release of the OS... check there to see if you are running the latest... if not, you can use the links and info the sticky thread to get and install a newer OS.
With regard to the password issue, are you on a BES account? It sounds like there is a reason that you cannot delete the password - perhaps an IT policy pushed down by your employer's BES?
