hi all,

just got a verizon BB 8830 (without contract) from ebay, which i am very new to this phone.

I was told that this phone can used any GSM card while overseas.
So while in asia, I was trying to use it by inserting a local GSM card. but the screen indicate 'Invalid SIM Card'

Is there anything that need to be done?

Are you sure it is unlocked? It will need to be unlocked to work with another network's sim card.
Go to Options/Advanced Options/SIM Card and whilst holding left shift ot alt, type mepd. In the resulting list there will be fields that say either Active or Disabled. If any are active, reply listing them.
