Default Cannot use DM to create backup...too many contacts?

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a user, he has about 5000 contacts, every time I try and do a backup of the device it just crashes DM back to windows, no error, nothing. I've used DM to back up other devices, mine, another users, etc, and it works fine. The only thing different with this user from the rest is that he has almost 5000 contacts on his blackberry.

Can I use javaloader to save the contacts and restore them to his new BB? (going from ATT 8800 to ATT 9700).

DM 5.0 downloaded from ATT site,
device OS 4.2.179
